Dervilla is a graduate of the B.A (Hons) in Applied Music where she specialized in Composition and her primary interest was in Electro-acoustic Composition. She has performed her works at various Sonic Arts festivals throughout Ireland and the UK. She graduated with an M.A in Music Therapy from University of Limerick in 2013 and Neurologic Music Therapy in 2021.

 

Dervilla is a multi-instrumentalist, playing piano, trumpet, cello, guitar and percussion. She performs all genres of music and has recorded with various Irish bands and orchestra’s, across various genres, over the years.  She also works with Music Generation Mayo as a Music Therapist and Music Educator all around Mayo.

 

“I have been playing Cello for many years, and in that time I performed for former President Mary McAleese and current President Micheal D. Higgins. I have had the opportunity to meet some wonderful and talented people on my travels both at home and abroad.

 

I have played in some fantastic places, from the Musikveirin (Golden Hall) in Vienna to representing Ireland in Turku, Finland. Recently, I toured with Fainne Oir around Ireland (INEC Killarney, Olympia Dublin, UL Concert Hall, Limerick) to Broadway in New York and played/conducted at the Irish Consulate in New York and Gaelic Park in the Bronx. I also toured with Seán Keane’s album ‘Gratitude’. “
