The Music West Big Band is a new community based big band playing a mixture of jazz, rhythm & blues and easy listening ranging from Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Frank Sinatra & Ella Fitzgerald right through to Marc Almond & Caro Emerald.
The band consists of a mixture of alto, tenor & baritone saxophones, trumpets, trombones and a rhythm section (piano, guitar, double bass & drums). We also have both male & female
vocalists. All Musicians are 18 years and above.
The band is open to instrumentalists playing any of the above instruments who are confident music readers of grade 5 standard or above (trombonists will need to read bass clef).

Joining the Big Band
We meet in Music West, Castlebar on Sunday Mornings between 10am and 12pm starting 8th October 2023.
The ensemble brings musicians together to have fun through making music.
Registration takes place each September or throughout the year in consultation with the musical director. The registration fee is €120 per adult, and €60 per child/student (€150 family discount). Membership enables you to join one or more groups within Music West.
