You can access music lessons in our purpose built Music West building in Castlebar, Co. Mayo. We offer weekly daytime or evening lessons on a wide range of instruments along with Saturday tuition. 

We facilitate tuition for beginners (children and adult) right up to experienced players who wish to add to their skills abd knowledge. New students of all ages are welcome. It is never too late to pick up an instrument you have wanted to learn for many years.

Convient times and dates for lessons are arranged directly with individual music teachers. They will also provide information on lesson fees, instrument rental, practice resources and opportunities to perform. 

If you or your child is interested in learning an instrument, we currently provided lessons for brass, woodwind, strings, guitar, piano/keyboard and percussion. Students can chose to train for exams with the Royal Irish Academy and there are opportunities to perform at recitals or in the ensembles at Music West.

Every September we organise an Open Day, where everyone can meet the music tutors, try out different musical instruments and choose what instrument to learn. Please see below for our 2026 open day

Students and Music West members who play in ensembles can rent a range of instruments from the instrument loan scheme, while testing the waters with a new instrument or waiting to purchase their own.
