Martin Jones – Trombone and Brass Tutor 

I’m Martin Jones, the Music West Trombone and Brass teacher.
I’ve been playing trombone since I was 12 years old, playing in my school brass band & my local brass band. In my mid teens I wanted to branch out into other areas of music so I taught myself to read bass clef which meant I could play in concert bands, a symphony orchestra & play big band jazz. Since then I have been following my twin musical passions of big band jazz & music in the community. 

In 2023 I moved to Mayo & joined Music West, starting the Music West Big Band & getting involved in teaching the next generation of trombonists and Brass players in Mayo. My priority as a teacher is to help my students to first & foremost enjoy the instrument & the trombone repertoire, encourage them to join Music West’s ensembles & to progress as musicians at a pace that suits them.
