Finola Reilly – Violin, Piano & Pre-instrumental Tutor

Finola comes from a friendly and musical family. She is classically trained with Grade 8 in piano and violin. She has been a violinist with Mayo Concert Orchestra for twenty years and a violin/piano teacher for 12 years with Music West.

Finola is proud to be associated with Music West: from its community roots, performing in Irish towns & villages to the dizzy heights of Broadway with Fainne Oir.

Finola brings a caring and positive ethos to her teaching. She is flexible and supportive. She originally trained and worked as an architect and welcomes opportunities to explore the world of creativity. She is happy to work with children, adults, exam students or on performance pieces for fun.

She has great respect for the world of education and enjoys working with other teachers: She has enjoyed tutoring architecture students, teaching violin in the classroom (aged 5 upwards), and working with early years musicians, in recent years.

Finola also enjoys many musical styles, from indie to folk, movies & musicals, traditional to pop music. She enjoys sharing with her students, if they wish.  Finola has also gained from extra-curricular music including playing guitar, singing, song writing, recording in a studio, attending gigs and learning cello/ viola including Grade 1 (distinction) in viola.

Like her colleagues, she attends many training programmes, including Kodaly in the classroom, traditional music workshops such as Westport Scoil Ceoil and Music Literacy Ireland.

Finola is delighted to work with the unique selling point of Music West: learn an instrument of choice, with the option of joining our orchestra and band families; and otherwise benefit from the magic of playing with others.  She is grateful to the many families she has worked with and looks forward to the future with colleagues and students.
